Official statement by Fresno Survivors of Suicide Loss, Inc.
Fresno Survivors of Suicide Loss is saddened to hear of the passing of Robin Williams. Our deepest condolences go out to his family and friends. Suicide takes the lives of nearly 40,000 Americans annually. Ninety percent of those who die by suicide have a diagnosable depressive disorder. Depression is a serious condition that requires medical attention. Depression, combined with painful life situations and poor coping skills can have fatal consequences. We encourage our community to become educated about this leading cause of death. More information can be obtained by going to the Suicide Prevention Resource Center, www.sprc.org.If you or someone you know needs help, please call the national Lifeline at 1-800-273-TALK (8255).
