Leann Gouveia

Leann has served as Executive Director of Fresno SOSL since 2001.  Prior to this position, she served on the board of directors as secretary and vice president of the organization.   Leann is involved both nationally and in California State suicide prevention efforts.  She is co-founder and board member of Suicide Prevention Advocacy Network of California (SPAN-CA).   She has chaired countywide suicide prevention efforts, teaches courses, and provides workplace training in suicide awareness and prevention.  Currently she is serving as President and CEO of Trauma Intervention Program of Fresno County (TIP).  Leann holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration both from California State University Fresno.

Leann is a survivor of suicide loss.  Her mother, Sharon, suicided in November of 1994.

Melissa Watkins

Melissa is a student at California State University Fresno majoring in psychology and working towards a certificate in Nonprofit Management. She is a 2006 graduate of Central East High School in Fresno where she graduated Valedictorian, was a peer counselor and participated in the KNOW More program. Melissa volunteered with the Yellow Ribbon Youth Suicide Prevention Program of Fresno County (Fresno SOSL) for four years before coming on board as the Resource Specialist in spring of 2007. Melissa researches and writes grants, solicits contributions from the community and manages youth grant projects. She has aspirations to work in the field of psychology and help others toward discovering their own potential.
