    It's time to start planning for Fresno SOSL's 12th Annual Fun Run/Walk Courage & Strength...Side by Side

    Saturday, September 27th, 2014
    8:00a.m. to 11:00a.m.
    Woodward Park, Mt. View Shelter, Fresno, CA

    We need your help to make this year's event bigger and better!
    Below we have attached all of the sponsorship documents and the silent auction donation request letter. Please help us by sharing this information with those you think might be able to give.

    How to register for the 2014 run/walk…

     

    Everyone prints and completes the registration form (see reg. form link below).  You may pay for all registrants at one time (grand total); however, we need one completed registration form for each participant.

     

    How to pay for the 2014 run/walk..

     

    1.      Click on the PayPal link below and indicate your name/team in the notation box at check out.  Mail in your registration.

    2.     Pay by phone.  Call our office and we will take your charge card payment over the phone.  322.5877.  Mail in registration form.

    3.     You may also mail in the registration form with a check to SOS.

    4.     Pay at our pre-registration event, 9/13/14, Sports Authority, 10-2:00, River Park next door to Target.

     

    All t-shirts will be held for pick up at the pre-registration event on September 13th.

     Don’t forget to buy your Memorial Sign!  Include the name to be placed on the sign.

    Fresno SOS is hosting the 2nd R U OK? U MATTER! Youth and Adolescent Suicide Prevention Forum
    Come join us for a fun and educational day! This forum is for young adults ages 14-25 to learn the warning signs and resources for suicide and to help develop effective strategies for prevention in our community. 

    This is a FREE EVENT to Participants!

    FREE Q.P.R. Seminar

    Would you like to become more active in the suicide prevention movement? Want to know more about the suicide prevention topic? Want to know more about Fresno SOSL and how you can help?

    Leann Gouveia, M.P.A, Fresno SOSL executive director is teaching a 3-hour Q.P.R. (Question, Persuade and Refer) seminar about suicide awareness and prevention which includes: recognizing warning signs/risk factors, common misconceptions/myths, how to address your concerns and ask the suicide question, how to persuade someone to get help, and who/how to refer to help. There will be a community panel for the last half hour of the course.

    Just as so many of us are familiar with C.P.R. and the valuable steps that can save a life, Q.P.R. offers the same simple steps that you can implement to save a life from suicide. Q.P.R. is not a form of counseling or therapy. It is designed for any of us to be more vigilant to those around us.

    Additionally, as survivors, we know little about why our loved one died by suicide. The fear of understanding suicide makes the grief process very difficult. With some education, survivors can better understand why their loved one died.

    For medical/mental health professionals, C.E.U.’s are available, please contact Ashley at the below email. Everyone will receive a certificate of completion.

    11th Annual Fun Run/Walk Event

    This year we are honoring our local Veterans at our 11th Annual fun Run/Walk: Courage & Strength...Side by Side.  It is an honor to be associated with, and serve, our veterans and their families.

    We are pleased to offer FREE registration to our Veterans with appropriate ID.
     
    Pre-registration for Veterans will be on Friday, September 13, 2013 at 9AM-12PM in the VA hospital lobby
    General Pre-registration will be on Saturday, September 14, 2013 at 10AM-2PM at Sports Authority in River Park
     
    This year we are introducing an online registration form. The link to the form is in the left hand navigation menu and titled "Registration Form". Please read the instructions carefully before you complete the form and proceed to checkout.

    R U OK? U Matter! Youth and Adolescent Mental Health Forum

    Fresno SOS, supporting sponsors and agencies,  is hosting a youth and adolescent forum on Mental Health and Suicide Prevention. The forum, "R U OK? U Matter!" will be held on Saturday, May 4th, 2013, 9:00a.m.-3:00p.m., at Fresno Convention Center, Valdez Hall. THIS IS A FREE EVENT!!! Lunch, snacks, activites and prizes will be provided.
     
    We are recruiting 200 Fresno County youth and adolescents, ages 14-25, who are interested in mental health issues and suicide prevention. This forum will result in a smaller council that will design, develop and execute a coutny-wide suicide prevention public awareness campaign.
     
    This event will also feature a youth/adolesecnt art show.
     
    Registration deadline is April 15th, 2013 5:00p.m. Parental signature is required if under 18 or still in high school.

    Live Auction March 16, 2013

    Fresno SOS is hosting a LIVE AUCTION and needs YOUR help! There are 2 ways you can help....
    1. Donate items to be auctioned off in our live auction! This can be anything from furniture, tools, antiques, artwork, clothes, jewelry, electronics, collectibles, and more even cars! Call our offices at 322-5877 to schedule a pick up or drop off!
    2. Join Us on Saturday, MArch 16th, 2013! Preview at 8:30 a.m. Auctionf 10:00a.m.-2:00p.m. The auction will be held at our warehouse located at 2631 E. Jensen Avenue, just west of Highway 99!
     
    Lunch will be available! Your choice of Tri-Tip Sanwiches, Hamburgers, Hotdogs, Chips and a drink only $3-$5!
     
    All proceeds benefit Fresno SOS!

    10th Annual Run/Walk Event

    It's that time of year again...

    Fresno Survivors of Suicide Loss
    will host our 10th Annual Fun Run/Walk Event on Saturday, September 22nd, 2012
    at 8:00AM, Woodward Park, Mountain View Shelter 
    2 Mile Walk/4 Mile Run

    $20 for Adults (18+) and $15 under 18 years 

    Fresno Survivors of Suicide Loss (Fresno SOS) asks that you mark your calendars for our 10th Annual event.  This is our largest fundraising event of the year and all proceeds raised will be used towards continuing to spread our mission -- "to support those who have lost a loved on to suicide and to educate our community about issues related to suicide and it's prevention."  The day of the event will include freebies and giveaways, entertainment, a community resource fair, food, music, memorial signs and remembrance ceremony, dove release, SILENT AUCTION and so much MORE!

    Fresno SOS needs YOUR help!  We need... Event sponsors, event volunteers, donated food items, silent auction items and teams of walkers or runners at the event (team discounts are available)!

    Fireworks Booth Fundraiser

    This year Fresno SOS will host a fireworks booth! Opening day will be on June 28th beginning at Noon to 7:00pm. We will then be open June 29th through July 4th from 10:00am to 10:00pm. Our booth is located in the Sam's Club parking lot in Riverpark. Come get all your fireworks needs and recieve special discounts and be entered into a raffle for a combo pack!     Rubio's Fundraising Event

    We are teaming up with Rubio's Restaurant for a special fundraising event. On Wednesday June 13th between 2p.m. and 9p.m. 20% all transactions that are accompanied by the attached flyer with be donated to Fresno SOS. Please help us raise funds for our youth program by dining at Rubio's on June 13th.

    14th Annual Candlelight Memorial

    Come join us Thursday May 3rd, 2012 for our annual candlelight memorial. It will take place at Hope Lutheran Church Community Center, 364 E. Barstow Ave. Fresno, CA, between 7:00pm and 8:30pm. Pastor Tim Rolen will be the special guest speaker for this wonderful event. We ask that you please bring a pair of brand new shoes with you to donate to a local charity. We hope to see you there!
